Duties and Responsibilities:
This position is crucial to enhancing the clinical resources of a four (4) clinic county health department (CHD) in Polk County and a one (1) clinic CHD in Hardee County.
This position will report to the CHD director.
The incumbent will provide medical services to individuals living with HIV/AIDS in Polk, Hardee, and Highlands County, FL. Services to include diagnosis, treatment and management of HIV infection and related complications. The incumbent will support CHD goal for clients to enter into care upon diagnosis (test and treat) and to be retained in care, and will also provide guidance and consultation for babies exposed to HIV in:utero. The incumbent will serve as a resource to DIS and prevention staff who strive to educate and inform the local population regarding prevention, testing, and support. The position will function as a member of a multidisciplinary team of physicians, Advanced Registered Nursing Practitioners, County Health Nurses, Registered Nurses, Clinical Social Workers and other ancillary staff in the public health setting. Teaching and guidance of Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioners, Nurses, and others is a vital role. The domain of clinical work shall also include the full scope of public health practice and may include adult medical ambulatory care, international travel, TB, STD, HIV disease and communicable disease control. If applicable, language translation skills will be utilized. On call responsibilities may be assigned for outpatient work with other clinical duties to be determined in conjunction with the CHD director.
This position serves as Medical Director for DOH Hardee County with duties to include review of nursing protocols, consultation to ARNPs/RNs regarding immunizations, and communicable diseases. In Polk County, this position will review and revise protocols for communicable diseases, monitor performance and quality of care of HIV providers, serve as a preceptor for Medical students, provide oversight for the HIV perinatal program and clinical practice for HIV exposed infants and provide oversight, consultation and clinical service for the Rabies Program.
This employee will have medical administration duties. The incumbent will participate in medical quality assurance, provide oversight of Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioners in the HIV/AIDS (Specialty Care) program. Clear, timely electronic health record documentation is critical. Accurate CPT coding and diagnosis coding must be performed for each patient visit and documentation in the chart must support this coding. .

This position may serve clients that speak only Spanish, Creole, or other languages. It may require performance of interpreter duties, if bilingual, or implementation of the Departments Limited English Proficiency Plan.
Performs other duties as required, including performance of additional interpreter duties, consistent with skill level, and as needed.
Licensure as a physician pursuant to Chapter 458, Florida Statutes; or Licensure as an osteopathic physician
